rainbow hat

I've been floating between projects. A few rounds here, a few rows there. I finished up the Snowman AND the blanket that I'd made a goal to get to in January. I've been working on some charity hats. I've also been working on something special for Eric. But I've been dragging my feet on everything, so I decided to throw a small one-day project into the mix.

I'd pulled out these little colored balls of yarn, which are leftovers of what I dyed a few years ago for my color spectrum blanket, and left them sitting on my night stand. They were staring up at me, so I cast on some ribbing in white and set to work making a colorwork hat.

I love hats for this reason....A normal worsted weight hat can be started and finished in a few hours. Sure colorwork takes a bit longer, but you'll still have that wonderful sensation of having completed something without having put too much time into it.

It's already blocking. It just needs ends woven in (and maybe a pom pom), and it's done!

  1. You are doing great! I have finished my hats and will pick up socks that need to go in the box and I will be sending it off next week. I want to see a picture of your finished blanket!

  2. That is so cute! I love making hats for the same reason. Unfortunately, here in TN it's rarely cold enough for me to need a hat.
