Right before Christmas, I realised that I needed to make this hat for the little girl that I nanny. A lot of things caught up with me really fast this holiday season, so I had no time to plan ahead. But I'm still glad I was able to churn this out.
It's the simplest of hats. It's extra stretchy to fit a growing head (she's about 16 months now). It pretty closely follows the excellent and free pattern Grammy's Hat, and used left over worsted weight yarn in a girly (but not too girly) color.
It really feels like a completed object with the little pom pom on top (the first one I've ever made, and I am so pleased!).
Project Details:
Pattern: Grammy's Hat by Tanis Lavallée
Yarn: about 100 yards of Malabrigo Rios in "purpuras"
Needles: US6
Modifications: used worsted weight and smaller needles, so I cast on the number of stitches for an adult and knit to the length of a child size to get a good fit
Ravelry page is here!
There are a lot of knits that need photographing, so I was happy to cross this off my list. Now. Weaving in ends tonight! Yes! the blanket is finished!!!
